CAP: 3-6cm in diameter. Convex to bell-shaped. Moist to the touch with typical lilac- to purple tones although drying to other shades such as pinkish brown, orange-yellowish etc. particularly when old. The edge is usually paler with a striate edge. STIPE: Whitish to reddish-orange straightish and narrow with occasional thickening towards base. GILLS/PORES: Gills are whitish to pinkish-purple and attached to the gills with a small tooth. Developing cross-gills when older. FLESH: Whitish-grey and watery. Odour and taste of Radish. SPORES: Smooth and elliptical to cylindrical. HABITAT: In troops in deciduous woodland particularly with Beech more rarely with Birch. SEASON: Common. Autumn. EDIBILITY: Inedible. |
